True friendship is rare. I have been very blessed in this life, in that, I married my best friend. In addition, I have a group of guys I grew up with and we have been friends now for over 45 years. Sometimes we only talk 2 or 3 times a year, but I know if I need them, I can definitely count on them. Recently, I have developed a friendship that can only be explained as a divine appointment. From our first encounter, I felt a closeness to this person based on our passion for Bible prophecy, but this relationship has blossomed in a short period of time that can only be defined as a “God thing”. Two great examples found in scripture is David’s relationship with Jonathan, which you can read about in 1 Samuel 18:1-4. Another great example of true friendship is Paul’s relationship to Timothy. You can read more about this relationship in 1 Timothy 1 & 2 Timothy 1. Friendships like this are rare for sure. But I would implore each of you to pray and ask God to bring such a friend into your life. If you already have such a friend, thank your Heavenly Father daily for them and pray that each day you will grow in that relationship.
I will end with this, first and foremost, become a friend of Jesus! Let’s look at what Jesus said to his disciples in John 15:15:
"No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you."
Wow! If you are believer you too are a friend of Jesus. If you desire to be a friend of Jesus, it is so, so simple. In Acts 16:31 Paul and Silas responds to the Roman Centurion’s question that asked "Sirs what must I do to be saved?" They replied, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved!”
Do it today!
In Christ,
Rohn
