Wow I was reading Jude the other morning and it was as if I was having a conversation with Pablo. Verses 3-5 says:
"Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you exhorting that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints. For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ."
Pablo has done such a terrific job highlighting the state of the Church today. But why are we surprised. So many of the Epistle’s describe what the “last days” are going to look like and it is exactly what we are seeing today. Jude verses 17-19 states:
"But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ: how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts. These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit."
That is the exact picture of the Church today. BUT, I exhort you who are faithful as Jude exhorted in verses 20-23:
"But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And on some have compassion, making a distinction; but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh."
I will finish by saying, finish well, complete this race called life at a full sprint to the finish line. We are going home soon! Verse 24-25:
"Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen."
